WORKING FOR THE WEEKEND OR WORK-CATION?
Does a Work-Cation stir up some possibilities you never dared think about before?
The idea of a work-cation is not to book a vacation and spoil it by bringing along paperwork - but to work in a different environment.
Provide a change of scenery, without giving up those precious vacation days.
A proper work station, good reliable internet, amenities (for the day-to-day work/living) and the After Five pleasures; affordability and access are key. Perhaps a gym, spa access and laundry facilities ... or at least access to them.
If you're not an Independent Contractor and calling your own shots, then approaching your boss with a bevy of work-cation benefits are a step towards a successful negotiation.
Research surveys show that 54% of employees reported they'd choose to keep working from home after the pandemic ended. And many companies are offering the switch to remote or hybrid working post-pandemic.
Working from different locations can boost mental well-being, decrease stress and boost overall creativity and productivity. Coming from a winter climate to a much warmer one, is real incentive.
Most important, will be to set firm work/leisure time boundaries before leaving and making it clear when you'll be available.
Time Zone differences could be an advantage for you. Depending on where you go, you could have a morning and lunch spending your time as a Vacationer, while using the afternoon as a Work-cationer.

The real perk is how you spend you're post-work downtime. Don your tourist hat and explore your new location by running, walking, biking or hiking. Local transportation and tours of historical sites. Or take a cooking class of it's authentic cuisine. The options are endless.
Work with a view can include: Canada - South Africa - Spain - Portugal - Greece - Tunisia - Costa Rica. Where's Your Next Work View?
